Independent Monument was designed by Khmer architect Van Molyvann to commemorate the end of French rule over Phnom Penh in 1953. It is situated along the Tonle Sap River near Royal Palace.
Toul Tom Pong Market (or Russian Market) is probably the city's best source of objects d'art. Items for sale include wooden and stone carvings, and old Indochinese notes and coins
